The Maternity Care Benefit
Costs for treatment and consultations relating to pregnancy and childbirth
are covered by the Premier Plus Plan. There is no cover for maternity
care received during the first year of cover. 80% of maternity care expenses
can be claimed up to a limit of £4,000 or $6,400 or €6,000
per pregnancy.
Complications of pregnancy
In-patient treatment for medical conditions which arise as a result of
pregnancy is covered by each plan up to the limits stated in the benefits
schedule. There is no cover for complications of pregnancy during the
first year of cover.
Cover for newborns
The hospital accommodation and treatment costs of a child born to a mother
who has been insured by the Premier Plus plan for at least 12 months will
be covered. Cover is restricted to the first 28 days of life and a maximum
benefit of £25,000 or $40,000 or €37,500 per pregnancy. During
this time we will cover any necessary treatment required relating to birth
defects and congenital abnormalities.
